| We have a busy Capital city
of Port-of-Spain. Our economy is based on
Oil and Gas rather than tourism. Year round
there is a vast choice of festivals, fun events
and a host of other adrenaline-generating
activities. Museums, galleries, restaurants,
night clubs, and shopping abound in Port of
Spain.
For an outdoor enthusiast you can spend you
time hiking to waterfalls in the northern
range rain forest or trekking along the North
Coast to a secluded beach. The East Coast
is home to the Nariva Swamp, a large protected
wetland, but with a registered tour guide
you can hike and kayak in the Swamp and are
sure to spot many birds, hawks, toucans, and
monkeys. The Caroni Swamp on the West Coast
is closer to town and easily accessible by
tour boat. Again you are guaranteed to see
lots of birds, especially the protected Scarlet
Ibis.
